Cool Apps and Interactive Websites

Cool Apps - these applications can be downloaded on a computer and/or mobile device, some for free and others for a fee (mobile apps can be used in the store to help you shop smart!)
  • What's On My Food? - learn about the pesticides that are likely to be found on different foods you buy and eat
  • Seafood Watch - learn which types of seafood are recommended by the Monterey Bay Aquarium based on sustainability and other factors
  • Fooducate - learn how foods claiming to be healthy really rate
Local Harvest - an online database, rather than an app, this website helps you find local food providers in your area
Eat Well Guide - another database to find good food wherever you go!

Interactive Websites - these sites have activities, games, and lots of useful information to explore
  • Kids' Zone from Agriculture in the Classroom - virtual tours, state agriculture facts, science project ideas, and more
  • Teen Scene from Agriculture in the Classroom - opinions and facts about prominent issues, science project ideas, career opportunities, and more
  • The Right to Food from Feeding the World - interactive map, facts, and stories discussing, food rights and malnutrition issues in different countries around the world
  • Food Is for Eating - informative site (big infographic) with facts about waste in the food system and actions you can take 
  • A Vegetable Growing Guide - a big infographic on growing veggies (based on growing conditions in the UK, but other planning, planting, and maintenance info holds)
  • Hey Kids, Let's Cook! - an online TV show about cooking healthfully (following the MyPlate USDA guidelines) with recipe booklets and resources for kids and adults (geared toward younger kids)
  • ZisBoomBah - games and interactive activities + printables and recipes for kids, focused on choosing, preparing, and enjoying healthy food. You can pick an avatar and earn points as you play and achieve different goals related to healthy living.
  • Feeding Nine Billion - a Canadian website with videos, charts, cartoons, and more, presenting different perspectives on how global society should respond effectively to the challenges of feeding the world's people in the face of rising population and major climate change.
